Eiswerk Local Area Guide: After Work

Bars & After work

Sage Beach

Directions - Köpenicker Straße 18 - 20, 10997 Berlin

Connected to a great restaurant, Sage Beach is an outdoor bar on the water that doubles as a nightclub venue. When they aren’t hosting parties, it is a great outdoor drinking space for the Summer. A spacious sandy beach, sun loungers and various food trucks with changing offers provide a holiday feeling in the middle of Berlin. For the right flair, the beach bar regularly books well-known DJs from the Berlin club scene. Admission is usually free from Monday to Saturday.

Republic

Directions - Köpenicker Str. 74, 10179 Berlin

You can definitely say that Berlin is the capital of the German street food and craft beer movement. The number of must-see craft beer and street food events confirms it. The concept from Republik is based on the combination of two trends: Craft beer breweries and street food, with the best quality regional products, every afternoon in an open air space with a cool atmosphere. Different street food partners cook for you during different periods in the Republic-berlin's kitchen, using fresh, regional products. You can enjoy international burgers, Italian Gnocchis, Spanish paella, fresh Italian Pasta and many more.

Kraftwerk Berlin

Directions - Köpenicker Str. 70, 10179 Berlin

At the centre of Berlin, on the Köpenicker Straße, is the former power station, Mitte –a piece of Berlin’s industrial history. Built approximately at the same time as the Berlin Wall around 1960-1964, its purpose was to power the former East German regions of Berlin. After the building stood abandoned for many years, it was resurrected by Dimitri Hegemann in 2006 and part of the space reopened as his techno club Tresor. Today, this formerly silenced Berlin power station is a vibrant place for exhibitions and events- definitely worth checking it out after work.

Culture

Stadtgarten Heizkraftwerk

Directions - Köpenicker Str. 60, 10179 Berlin

No drinks here but lots of greens, veggies and a chilled atmosphere- the Stadtgarten is just around the corner and the perfect green oasis to relax after work. In an area around 1,500 m2 you can discover, plant your own greens and learn a bit about urban gardening. In addition to the many raised beds you can help to care for, there are also sandboxes for the children and deck chairs for the parents to enjoy an afternoon in the Stadtgarten. The garden opens in the summer and everyone is welcomed to swing by for a chat or a stroll.

BBA Gallery

Directions - Köpenicker Straße 96, 10179 Berlin

The BBA Gallery is the place to go if you want to get your mind off work and discover new artists. The Gallery mainly features ‘emerging’ and ‘mid-career’ artists in different exhibitions. BBA was founded in 2017 and represents artists with unique talent and ideas, a strong vision and a compelling style. Age or education are not the most important criteria for the Gallery- they’re more interested in authenticity, perseverance and outstanding artworks, no matter the medium.

DUVE Gallery

Directions - Köpenicker Straße 96, 10179 Berlin

DUVE Berlin is an independent gallery with a focus on emerging artists. The primary focus of the program is to provide a critical platform for conceptually driven and contextually aware painting, sculpture, video, mixed media and print. DUVE Berlin provides a platform for a younger generation of artists who develop work with an understanding that effective art must be nuanced and meaningful.

Hošek Contemporary

Directions - Fischerinsel, 10179 Berlin

Hošek Contemporary, established in 2016, is an art residency, a performance space and a gallery located on a boat in Berlin-Mitte. The gallery focuses primarily on site specific installations, performing arts and experimental sound installations. The gallery hosts weekly experimental music, providing musicians an opportunity to showcase their sound skills to a Berlin audience. The exceptional locations of the gallery, set on the Fischerinsel overlooking the skyline, and the mix of modern urbanism with idyllic nature in the heart of the city creates a very unique atmosphere.
